VinFast Limo Green – Vietnam’s premium 7-seater electric SUV coming to India with long range and luxury features.

The Indian electric car market may soon welcome a strong new player. Vietnam’s leading automobile manufacturer VinFast is preparing to introduce its new 7-seater electric SUV, the Limo Green, in India. The design patent has already been filed in India, hinting strongly at its potential launch. The company recently inaugurated its modern electric vehicle plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, further reinforcing the possibility that VinFast will develop India as its EV production and export hub.

Powerful Performance and Long Range

The Limo Green is equipped with a single electric motor paired with a front-wheel drive (FWD) system. This motor produces 201 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque, delivering a fast and smooth driving experience. Power is supplied by a 60.13 kWh battery pack, which, according to the company, offers a range of up to 450 kilometres (NEDC) on a single charge.

However, since this figure is based on the NEDC test cycle, the real-world range under Indian conditions may be slightly lower. Official ARAI or MIDC figures will be available upon its launch in India, giving a clearer picture of its actual range.

For charging, the Limo Green features modern fast-charging technology. With an 80 kW DC fast charger, it can be charged from 10% to 70% in just 30 minutes. This will be especially beneficial for long-distance drivers and fleet operators.

To enhance the driving experience, the Limo Green offers Eco, Comfort, and Sport driving modes, optimising power delivery and battery usage according to different conditions.

Stylish and Practical Design

The VinFast Limo Green’s design is set to stand out on Indian roads. Its dimensions — 4,740 mm in length, 1,872 mm in width, 1,728 mm in height, and a 2,840 mm wheelbase — place it in the premium 3-row MPV/SUV segment. With a ground clearance of around 170 mm, it should perform well on Indian roads.

The exterior styling includes a V-shaped LED light signature, a full-width LED light bar, and SUV-style cladding. The 18-inch alloy wheels add to its premium appeal. The seating layout is a 2+3+2 configuration, making it suitable for large families as well as taxi and corporate fleets.

Premium Interior and Features

The Limo Green’s cabin has been designed with a premium touch, featuring leatherette upholstery, a floating centre console, and chrome accents. It houses a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.

Feature highlights include:

  • 360-degree camera for enhanced visibility
  • Single-zone automatic climate control
  • USB charging ports for all rows
  • Electronic parking brake
  • 4 airbags, ABS, and EBD

However, the company has not yet confirmed whether the India-spec model will include ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).

Manufacturing Plans in India

VinFast’s new EV plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, has an initial production capacity of 50,000 units per year, with plans to increase it to 1.5 lakh units per year in the coming years. The plant will cater to both the Indian market and other emerging markets.

The company is currently focused on launching its VF6 and VF7 SUV models in India to establish the brand. While the official launch timeline for the Limo Green has not yet been announced, the design patent and testing activities suggest that its entry into the Indian market is highly likely.

Price and Warranty

In Vietnam, the Limo Green is priced at around ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom). In India, the price will depend largely on whether it is locally assembled or imported. If assembled locally, it could be priced between ₹20–25 lakh, positioning it as an attractive alternative to models like the MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400, and BYD e6.

In Vietnam, VinFast offers a 7-year or 1.6 lakh kilometre warranty on the Limo Green, along with free charging at the V-Green public charging network. Whether a similar package will be available in India remains to be seen.

Potential Impact on India’s EV Market

Currently, the Indian EV SUV/MPV segment has very few 7-seater options. The BYD e6 is popular in the fleet segment but is a 5-seater. Models like the Tata Nexon EV and MG ZS EV are also 5-seaters and smaller in size compared to the Limo Green. This gives the Limo Green an edge with its 7-seater layout, long range, and premium positioning, potentially filling a gap in the market.

If VinFast launches this model at a competitive price and with strong after-sales support, it could quickly gain popularity among both families and fleet operators.

Challenges Ahead

For any new brand entering India, the biggest challenges remain expanding the charging infrastructure and building a reliable service network. To win customer trust, the company will need to provide fast and dependable after-sales service.

Additionally, the NEDC-based range claims will be tested in Indian conditions, and if the real-world range does not meet customer expectations, it could affect the model’s popularity.

Latest Updates (as of 13 August 2025)

  • VinFast’s EV plant in Tamil Nadu operational
  • VF6 and VF7 launch process underway
  • Limo Green design patented in India; launch date awaited
  • No official announcement yet on price, warranty, or expansion plans

Conclusion

The VinFast Limo Green could be a refreshing addition to India’s 7-seater electric segment. With a powerful motor, up to 450 km claimed range, fast-charging capability, and premium 3-row seating, it has the potential to be a strong choice for both families and fleets.

However, its success will ultimately depend on pricing, the speed at which VinFast expands its after-sales network, and how convenient the charging ecosystem becomes. If these factors align, the VinFast Limo Green could soon make its presence felt on Indian roads.
