WhatsApp’s new Voice note transcription feature: WhatsApp has introduced an important update for its users that provides the facility to convert voice notes into text. This new voice note transcription feature has now come out of beta testing and is available to stable users. Under this, users can easily understand the content of voice messages without listening to them.
What is new in the voice note transcription feature?
WhatsApp’s voice note transcription feature provides a simple way to convert voice notes into text. Now users will not need to listen to voice messages, as through text transcription they can read the content of the voice note directly. This feature is available in five languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Hindi.
How to activate the voice note transcription feature?
To start using this new feature, users have to activate it by going to WhatsApp’s settings. Go to the settings and click on the ‘Chat’ section and a toggle bar will appear. After enabling it, a transcription prompt will appear below the voice notes, by clicking on which users can see the text transcription of the voice note. The transcription text file is automatically downloaded and displayed below the voice note.
Secure with end-to-end encryption
This new feature of WhatsApp is completely secured with end-to-end encryption. This means that only the sender and receiver can listen to the voice message, and WhatsApp itself is not in a position to listen or read the message. Additionally, the transcription text file remains completely private and cannot be shared with anyone else, which makes the privacy of the app even stronger.
Voice Note Transcription Feature Current Status
This feature is currently available only for Android devices and does not support the web version. However, this feature is likely to expand to other platforms in the future. With this new feature, WhatsApp has taken an important step keeping in mind the convenience and privacy of the users.
