HONOR Magic 8 Pro Review: In the premium Android flagship market, now just having a ‘fast processor’ is not enough. Users are now paying more attention to battery life, camera details, and software support. In this sequence, HONOR has played its new move with the Magic 8 Pro. This phone is trying not only in terms of specifications but also to deliver an experience that is useful in a practical (practically) way.
We have analyzed the features and claims of the HONOR Magic 8 Pro to understand whether this phone can really challenge giants like Samsung and Google or not.
Camera with 200MP telephoto lens
In smartphone photography, the megapixel battle has now become old, the real fight is of ‘zoom’ and low light performance. The biggest topic of discussion of the HONOR Magic 8 Pro is its 200MP periscope telephoto camera. On paper this number looks very big, but what does it mean in real use?
When zooming in low light, often noise (grains) come into the photo, but this sensor and its stabilization system have controlled it to a large extent. If you are at a concert or capturing wildlife from a distance, this setup helps in maintaining detail.

Along with this, there is a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. An attempt has been made to keep the color tone natural, which will appeal to those who do not like over-saturated, meaning very deep colors. However, in our analysis, a small shortcoming was also noticed that while shooting in very bright light or in front of a direct light source, sometimes the problem of lens flare can be seen. This is not a deal breaker, but expectations from a flagship are always of perfection.
Performance and battery
Talking about the heart of this phone, that is the processor, it has been given the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This chipset not only gives raw power but its energy efficiency is also better. Be it gaming or 4K video editing, the phone runs without any interruption.

But, the real feature of this phone is its battery, flagship phones often compromise in terms of battery, but HONOR has given a 7,100mAh Silicon-Carbon battery here. In today’s time when most flagships are stuck at 5000mAh, this is a big jump. For a heavy user, this means that after charging in the morning, there will be no need to look for the charger till night.
And you will not be disappointed with its charging speed either:
- 100W wired charging
- 80W wireless charging
However, we found that if you do continuous gaming on high graphics, then a slight warmth can be felt on the back of the phone, due to which some performance throttling can happen. But in normal use this is not a problem.
Display and visual experience
HONOR has put a lot of emphasis on eye comfort in its display technology. It uses 4,320Hz PWM dimming. In simple language, when you use the phone at low brightness at night, the flicker of the screen does not put strain on your eyes. This is very important for those people who read or watch videos on the phone at night.
Outdoor visibility is good, but if we compare it with some of the most expensive phones in the market, then its sustained brightness may feel a little less in direct sunlight.
7 years of software promise
No matter how good the hardware is, software decides whether the phone will last long or not. This phone comes with Magic OS 10 based on Android 16. The company has promised updates for up to 7 years in selected markets. If HONOR sticks to this promise, then this phone can become a long-term investment.
Talking about AI features, it has Magic Color and a dedicated AI button. This button is not just a gimmick; you can customize it according to your convenience.
