Lavrov Says US Pressuring India to Stay Away From Russian Oil

Russia has accused the United States of pressuring India and other countries to avoid Russian oil. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says sanctions and trade restrictions are being used to control global energy flows.
US pressure on India over Russian oil

US pressure on India over Russian: Russia has made a serious allegation that the United States is trying to stop several countries, including India, from buying Russian oil. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Washington is using pressure measures such as tariffs, sanctions, and direct prohibitions to maintain global economic dominance.

Lavrov said that by imposing sanctions on Russian oil companies, the US is trying to weaken competition. According to him, these methods go against the spirit of international trade and can be called unfair.

Accusation of interference in relations with BRICS countries

In an interview to TV BRICS, Lavrov said that the US is trying to control Russia’s trade, investment, and military-technical cooperation with India and other BRICS countries. He alleged that Western countries are not ready to give up their old dominant position, and this attitude is now becoming more openly visible.

According to Lavrov, during the administration of US President Donald Trump**, the policy of putting pressure on competitors became even more clear.

Claim of accepting the US proposal on the Ukraine issue

The Russian foreign minister also said that last year, during talks held in Alaska, Russia accepted the US proposal regarding Ukraine. He said that in that meeting, there was a conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and then US President Trump.
According to Lavrov, the purpose of the proposal was to find a solution to the Ukraine crisis, and Russia accepted it and took steps toward cooperation.

Accusation of attacks on tankers in international waters

Lavrov alleged that despite this, the US imposed new sanctions and carried out attacks on tankers in international waters, which is a violation of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. He said that India and other partners are being discouraged from buying cheap Russian energy, while Europe has already stopped such purchases. Because of this, European countries are being forced to buy expensive American liquefied natural gas.

Attempt to control energy supply routes

Russia claims that the US wants to keep the energy supply routes of major countries of the world under its control. According to Lavrov, Washington is also closely watching the Nord Stream pipeline, Ukraine’s gas transit system, and the TurkStream pipeline in Europe.

RUSSIA ACCUSES U.S. OF PRESSURE POLITICS

Russia says that these steps are not limited only to economic interests, but are part of a broader strategy to establish dominance over the global energy and trade system.
