X (Twitter) service outage: Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) witnessed a serious outage for about half an hour from around 8:24 am on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. During this period, users of X in India faced serious difficulties in refreshing the feed on both the web and app versions.
According to Downdetector, a platform that tracks outages of websites and online services in real-time, Delhi, Kolkata, Nagpur, Cuttack, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai reported the most problems. Apart from this, users also reported outages in many other cities like Patna, Lucknow, and Jaipur.
According to the Downdetector report, about 70% of the users faced problems with the X app, while 27% of the users reported problems with the web version. The remaining 3% reported server connection problems.
X has around 330 million users globally, including 95 million users in the US and 27 million users in India. About 500 million posts are made every day. X was launched in July 2006 and on 27 October 2022, Elon Musk bought it for $44 billion, which is about Rs 3.6 lakh crore as per today’s value.
