- Khamenei rejects US regime change claims
- Strong remarks on military confrontation
- Nuclear talks face pressure accusations
- January protest deaths addressed publicly
Ali Khamenei statement: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has clearly said that America will never succeed in overthrowing the Islamic Republic’s rule. His statement came at a time when strict remarks about Iran have appeared in American politics and talk of regime change has also surfaced.
On Tuesday, in a meeting with people from East Azerbaijan, Khamenei said that in 47 years America has not been able to end Iran’s system and will not be able to do so in the future either. He referred to the statement of the US President, in which it was said that America could not defeat the Islamic Republic in so many decades. Calling it an admission, Khamenei said that this failure will continue ahead as well.
He also commented on American military power. He said that even the world’s most powerful army can suffer such a blow from which it will not be easy to recover. On the matter of America sending warships, he said that as dangerous as ships are, weapons that have the capability to sink them in the sea can be even more effective.
Strict Message on Nuclear Talks
The second round of indirect nuclear talks between America and Iran continued on Tuesday. In this context, Khamenei said that America’s threats are an attempt to bring Iran under pressure. He alleged that deciding the outcome even before the talks is not appropriate.
Khamenei said that if it is assumed that the result of the talks will be that Iran will be deprived of nuclear energy, then such talks have no meaning. He repeated that Iran will not bow before external pressure.
What Khamenei Said on Economic Conditions and Protests
In his address, Khamenei referred to the protests that broke out in January over the issue of economic hardship. He said that the country is in mourning over the blood of those who were killed in these incidents. According to official figures, 3,117 people lost their lives, while some non-governmental organizations have claimed a higher number.
The Iranian leader divided the dead into different categories and said that all cannot be given the same status. According to him, there were some people who took support from external powers and played a role in inciting violence. Such people cannot be considered martyrs. At the same time, there were also some people who were caught in the situation and were not part of any conspiracy.
Khamenei also said that the January protests were not the result of any domestic movement, but a conspiracy of external powers. At the end of the speech, he prayed for those whom he described as misguided.
