52 missing, 3 dead due to cloudburst in Himachal: relief work underway: The situation has become critical due to the massive floods caused by cloudburst in Shimla, Mandi and Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh. So far about 52 people are missing in these districts, while three bodies have been recovered. 35 people are reported missing in Shimla district, 9 in Mandi and 7 in Kullu.
Apart from this, the base camp of Shrikhand Yatra has also been affected due to cloudbursts in the Jaon and Nirmand areas of the Kullu district. Given this crisis, the administration has started relief and rescue operations on a large scale. Relief material is being delivered to the affected areas and search operations are being conducted to search for missing persons.
36 people missing: Floods and landslides caused by cloudburst have wreaked havoc in Jhakri in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. 36 people are missing, and their search has been intensified. NDRF, SDRF, police and fire teams are engaged in rescue work. So far two people have been rescued safely and two bodies have been recovered. The administration is trying its best in the rescue work.
9 missing and 1 dead: Cloudburst has caused severe devastation in Thaltu Khod in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. Nine members of three families are missing and a 75-year-old woman has died in this incident. Mandi DC Apurv Devgan has confirmed that schools and educational institutions in the Padhar subdivision have been closed. Relief and rescue teams have recovered one body and rescued 35 people safely. The district administration has also alerted the Air Force for rescue. According to Thaltu Khod Panchayat Pradhan Kali Ram, three houses in Terang and Rajban villages have been completely damaged. Relief and rescue operations are underway.
Huge losses due to cloudburst in Kullu: Two bridges have collapsed, eight to nine houses have been washed away and seven people are missing due to a cloudburst in the Nirmand area of Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. Teams of NDRF, SDRF, Police, Home Guard and Fire Services are engaged in relief work. The local administration has been instructed to run the relief work smoothly and provide information about the situation in the affected areas.
Assurance of help: Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister JP Nadda have assured help in relief and rescue operations and have pledged to provide all possible assistance from the central government.
Devastation caused by cloudburst: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has expressed deep grief over the damage caused by cloudburst in Mandi, Kullu and Shimla districts of Himachal Pradesh. He directed the Deputy Commissioners of the affected districts to provide immediate relief and inquired about the search operation of the missing people by the NDRF and SDRF. The Governor has prayed for the departed souls’ peace and the injured’s speedy recovery. He has appealed to people not to go near rivers and drains and to ensure their safety.
