India started aggressively in the Paris Olympics, defeating Australia 2-0
India vs Australia Hockey: India started brilliantly in the group match of the Paris Olympics and entered Australia’s D twice in the first three minutes; however, it could not score. In the 10th minute, Australia got a penalty corner, but India foiled it. In the 12th minute of the first quarter, Abhishek scored the first goal, and a minute later Harmanpreet Singh scored from a penalty corner to give India a 2-0 lead. This was India’s first time in the Paris Olympics when it scored two goals in the first quarter.
Australia attacked India’s lead in the second quarter
India vs Australia Hockey: At the beginning of the second quarter, India’s Vivek was shown a green card and remained off the field for five minutes. During this, Australia got a penalty corner in the 19th minute, but India stopped it from converting into a goal. Then in the 25th minute, Australia’s Thomas Craig scored a goal to increase India’s lead to 2-1. Despite this, India managed to maintain its lead till the end of the second quarter.
Harmanpreet’s goal in the third quarter increased India’s lead

Strong Indian defence in the fourth quarter led to victory

After this, Australia scored their second goal from a penalty stroke, making the score 3-2. However, Australia tried hard to equalize but could not. In the end, India won the match 3-2 and got important three points and is now ready to play in the quarter-finals on 4th August.
