Nirmala Sitharaman: The 11th convocation of the Indian Science Education and Research Institute (IISER) in Bhopal gave a message to touch a new place in education and research. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman shared her views and discussed the progress and future direction in various fields.

Tax and Funding:

Tax system: Nirmala Sitharaman expressed her views on the tax system and said that although she wishes to reduce the number of taxes, the need for funds remains given the development plans and international commitments of the country. He clarified that a tax system is necessary so that the government can financially support its projects.

Educational and Research Activities

Educational Research: 442 researchers were provided degrees in the ceremony. Sitharaman appreciated IISER, which has so far published more than 3 thousand research papers and has also received 8-9 patents. He emphasized the need for more research in the field of data science and new techniques and also announced the foundation stone of the new educational building and lecture chamber of IISER.

Advanced Technical Area:

Sitharaman emphasized the importance of solar energy and thermal power and appreciated the availability of 5G networks. According to him, these technical initiatives are very important for the development journey of the country and through them, the country can touch new heights of technological progress.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav: Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav threw light on the knowledge-based role of the state. He emphasized the presence of three triple IT in Madhya Pradesh and the importance of private participation in higher education. Also, he shared information about the establishment of six global skill parks and PM Excellence College in the state.

Progress report of IISER

IISER Pragati: Professor Govardhan Das, director of IISER, said that the institute has 37% female students and more than 3 thousand research papers have been published. This reflects the institute’s educational excellence and dedication to research.

MP Alok Sharma saw all the students and staff in Indian costumes, calling the ceremony historic. His comment further enhanced the dignity of the ceremony and made all the attendees feel proud.
