There is a big stir in the tech world. Samsung has officially announced that in the upcoming Galaxy S26 series smartphones, Perplexity AI will be integrated at a deep and wide level. This is not a simple app integration — rather it is part of Samsung’s big dream in which it wants to develop its flagship phone as a multi-agent AI platform.

Just say ‘Hey Plex’, the rest will happen on its own

Galaxy S26 users will now only have to say “Hey Plex” to wake up Perplexity. This will be a dedicated wake phrase, just like earlier “Hey Siri” or “Ok Google” used to work. Apart from this, Perplexity can also be activated by long pressing the side button of the phone.

It is worth noting that hints of this news had already appeared in January, when signals of a Samsung-specific hotword service were found in the code of the Perplexity app. Now Samsung has officially accepted it.

Not just a chatbot, this is a system-level agent

Perplexity has not been placed in Galaxy S26 as just a question-answer bot. Samsung is integrating it at the operating system level. This means that Perplexity will be able to work inside Samsung’s core apps like Notes, Calendar, Gallery, Clock and Reminders. Along with this, it will also have access to some selected third-party apps.

Imagine that in a single prompt you search for some information, create a related note from it, set a reminder, and add an event to the calendar — without going from one app to another. This is Samsung’s promise.

Dependence on one AI ends, Samsung is bringing a multi-agent ecosystem

Samsung has also made it clear that it does not want to depend on any one AI service. The company is preparing an open, multi-agent ecosystem where Bixby, Perplexity and possibly other AI services can work together. According to Samsung’s own research, today around 80 percent of users use more than one AI tool and choose different agents according to the task. Keeping this need in mind, this strategy has been made.

Bixby is also not behind in this race. Samsung has recently started the beta program of the new version of Bixby, which is being prepared as a fully conversational device agent.

On which devices will this feature be available?

For now, this Perplexity integration has been announced only for the Galaxy S26 series. However, Samsung has indicated that soon it will share information about other devices and experiences as well. This raises hope that older Samsung flagship phones and other devices may also get this feature in the future.
