New York, April 5, 2025: The Grand Theft Auto (GTA) franchise, one of the biggest names in the world of video gaming, has a big question among fans regarding the release date of its next version, GTA 6. Although Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games have not yet announced the official release date of GTA 6, the company’s CEO Strauss Zelnick has made a big statement on the issue, creating a stir in the gaming community.
We want to keep the excitement – Strauss Zelnick
Strauss Zelnick discussed the release date of GTA 6 in an interview with Bloomberg TV and said that some companies announce the release date of their games years in advance, while Take-Two and Rockstar Games believe that keeping silent on this issue is important for the success of the game. According to Zelnick:
“The excitement for GTA 6 is probably the greatest I’ve ever seen for any entertainment product. We want to keep that excitement and impatience alive. Some of our competitors reveal their release plans years in advance, but we release marketing material much closer to the release window to keep the excitement alive. We’re not always right, but that’s what we try.”
It’s clear from this statement that Rockstar and Take-Two prefer to maintain silence about GTA 6 as part of their marketing strategy so that there’s excitement and impatience for the game. So far, Rockstar Games has released the only trailer for GTA 6 in December 2023; since then, there has been no announcement of any new gameplay, screenshots or updates.
GTA 6 takes time to make, we want perfection
Regarding why GTA 6’s launch has taken so long since GTA 5 (2013), Zelnick said:
“Some companies launch new games of their big franchises at regular intervals, but our teams intend to give some franchises a ‘rest’ so that the hype can build. Games like GTA take a long time to make. Rockstar Games wants perfection in everything they do, and the standard for perfection is very high.”
This statement reflects Rockstar’s development process, which puts time and effort into making each game with excellence. For this reason, fan expectations for the game constantly increase, but the pace of game development can be slow.
Strategy to retain top talent
Zelnick also shared another important reason for Take-Two’s success: the company has no shortage of creative talent. He said:
“We have no shortage of creative talent. We give developers complete freedom over their projects and provide them with unlimited funding to achieve perfection. Also, we have a revenue-sharing policy, which gives developers bonuses on the success of the game.”
This strategy is important for bringing stability and innovation to the company’s growth, as it motivates the team to create high-quality games, and they remain more dedicated to their work.
When can GTA 6 come?
At the moment, there is no official release date for GTA 6, but there is a buzz in the gaming community that it could be released by late 2025 or early 2026. Fans are now waiting for a new trailer or gameplay update from Rockstar so that they can know more about the game.
