Honda Motor Company has officially unveiled its smallest and smartest electric car, Honda N-One e, in Japan. This model is based on the company’s Super EV Concept and will be available for sale to Japanese customers in September 2025. Bookings have already started from 1 August 2025.

This electric car has been designed with the aim of making urban commuting easier and more affordable, and its size, design and technology make it extremely practical. Interestingly, the car is also seen as suitable for the Indian market in the future, especially in the segment where affordable EVs like the MG Comet EV and Tata Tiago EV are already present.

Design and Exterior Features

The Honda N-One e has been developed under Japan’s ‘kei car’ category. It measures around 3.4 metres in length, making it an ideal choice for navigating crowded city streets and tight parking spaces. Its design is boxy yet carries Honda’s retro-modern appeal — featuring round headlamps, rectangular tail-lights, and a minimalist grille.

At the front, dual charging ports are placed on either side of the Honda logo, emphasising its electric identity. A black roof and floating roofline styling give the car a more premium look.

Honda has kept the cabin simple yet practical. It features a sloped centre console that houses the gear selector, electronic parking brake, and several essential physical controls.

In front of the driver is a digital instrument cluster, and at the centre is a free-standing 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports multiple smart features. It is expected to offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The premium variants come with leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, multiple drive modes, automatic climate control, USB ports, and advanced safety features like lane-keep assist.

The rear seats can fold completely flat with a 50:50 split, allowing the cargo area to expand as needed — a feature that will appeal to those using the car for both daily commutes and weekend trips or shopping.

Honda N-One e: Capable Performance and Fast-Charging

The Honda N-One e is powered by a single electric motor that generates around 63–64 bhp, which is adequate for city traffic and everyday commuting.

As for range, the company claims the car can travel between 245 to 270 kilometres on a single charge, certified under WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure) standards.

On the charging front, the car supports 50 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to reach 80% charge in under 30 minutes. It also comes with V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) and V2H (Vehicle-to-Home) capabilities, enabling it to power electronic devices or even supply electricity to a home when needed.

Target Audience and Market Positioning

The Honda N-One e is primarily focused on urban utility — daily use in city environments. It particularly targets young buyers, office workers, small families, and those seeking a stylish, compact, and smart functional car.

Its compact dimensions and electric powertrain make it a feature-packed, low-maintenance, and budget-conscious choice for many users.

Speculation About India Launch: Will the Honda N-One e Come to India?

The demand for electric vehicles in India is rapidly increasing, and by 2025–26, the segment is expected to see a wave of new models. This has fuelled speculation that the Honda N-One e could be launched in India.

The Indian market already has options like the Tata Tiago.ev, MG Comet EV, and Citroën eC3. For Honda, this could be an opportunity to kick-start its electric portfolio with this compact model. While the company hasn’t made any official announcement for India yet, it could be introduced as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) in limited numbers.

If Honda brings it to India and manages to price it under ₹10 lakh, this car could redefine urban electric mobility.

Booking and Launch Details

Bookings for the Honda N-One e have started in Japan from 1 August 2025, and the full launch is scheduled for September 2025. The official price will be announced at launch, but estimates suggest it could be around ¥2.5 million (approximately ₹14 lakh).

Conclusion: A Glimpse of Honda’s Electric Future

The Honda N-One e is a product designed with urban lifestyles in mind. Its size, looks, features, and technology position it to become a mainstream electric car in the coming years. If Honda introduces it in India, it won’t just mark a strong start for the brand but will also emerge as a unique and competitive option in the country’s mid-segment EV market.

Honda’s “small but powerful” offering represents a decisive step towards the future of electric mobility.
