Iran Israel Tensions: Amid the ongoing confrontation in the Middle East, Israel has claimed to have dealt a major blow to Iran’s military leadership structure. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued an official statement on Sunday saying that the Chief of Staff of Iran’s armed forces, Abdolrahim Mousavi, was killed in a targeted strike. This action has been described as part of the military campaign that Israel has named “Operation Roaring Lion” and which is being conducted with the support of the United States.
According to the IDF, several key locations in Tehran were targeted simultaneously. The statement said that this operation was carried out under a strategy to weaken Iran’s military capability and command structure. The Israeli army claims that the strikes were extremely precise and were completed in less than a minute. It was stated that the officials who were targeted were present at a defense council meeting or in a command center, and the action was carried out on the basis of intelligence information.
Abdolrahim Mousavi had recently been appointed to that post, which was previously held by the former Chief of Staff who was killed in the last conflict. The IDF has also said that seven members of Tehran’s top security leadership were killed in this action. According to the Israeli claim, these included the commander of the Revolutionary Guards, the defense minister, and other senior officials.
According to reports, this latest strike is being seen as a direct attack on Iran’s military structure. The officials who are claimed to have been targeted played an important role in determining the ballistic missile program and other military strategies. Iranian state media has confirmed these deaths, after which a situation of mourning is being reported in the country. In addition, the IDF has also announced that 40 senior Iranian commanders were also killed in the initial strikes. Israel alleges that these commanders were involved in previous attacks against Israel and were part of various key units of the army.
After the developments, a strong reaction has come from Iran. The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces and the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters have issued a warning to the United States and Israel. In the statement issued, it was said that the consequences of this new aggressive action will be serious and the concerned countries will regret it. The statement also expressed condolences on the martyrdom of the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The statement said that with the unity of the nation, determination, and the strength of the armed forces, the enemies, especially the United States and the Zionist regime, will be answered. It also said that the legacy and guidance left by the country’s leadership will continue to be a source of inspiration for the Iranian people and the armed forces.
