Mobile operating system will be made in India: Ashwini Vaishnav assigned the task of developing Indian mobile operating system to TCS, Infosys and Wipro

Recently, Union Information and Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave a big challenge to the country’s leading technology companies. He said that India now needs an indigenous mobile operating system and for this our companies should come forward and work.
Vaishnav appealed to companies like TCS, Infosys, and Wipro to now change from service providers to product developers and take steps towards developing mobile operating systems. He said that India needs to become a product nation, and for this, the government is fully ready to cooperate.
National Appeal for Mobile Operating System
During the 32nd ICT Business Awards and DQ Digital Leadership Conclave organised by Dataquest India, Ashwini Vaishnav said, “I challenge big tech companies like Infosys, TCS, and Wipro to develop operating systems for mobile and create an indigenous operating system for the country.”
He also informed that the government is working to establish India as a high-tech product-making nation, and all efforts will be encouraged in this. The aim of the government is not only to develop products but also to bring the country’s technological capability to global standards.
Emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Ashwini Vaishnav also said that the Government of India is also fully committed in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He informed that work is going on on 5 units in this field, and this year, the indigenous chip will be rolled out for the first time in India. Additionally, the government has also launched a new AI Compute Portal for AI tasks, which will provide researchers, startups, and government agencies access to high-powered computing resources.
New computing facility for GPUs
Vaishnav also informed that the government has launched the first common computing facility for 14 thousand GPUs. These GPUs can now be used for all researchers, students, and startups, allowing them to test their AI models and algorithms. This initiative is an important step to promote innovation and development in the AI sector in India.
Government’s vision and plans
Vaishnav further said that the government’s focus is now on creating its own foundational AI models in the next 12 months. Apart from this, the government plans to create small and problem-focused AI models, as well as provide support to startups. In this process, GPU technology will also be improved, and Indian talent will be recognized internationally.
