Nissan’s New 7-Seater Compact MPV Makes Global Debut, Will Be Renault Triber’s Twin Model “Gravite”!

The automobile market is now ready to welcome another new family car. Nissan has officially announced that its Nissan new 7-seater compact MPV will make its global debut. This will be Nissan’s third major offering in the country after the Magnite and X-Trail, further strengthening the company’s product portfolio in India.
This car has been designed keeping family needs at the center — affordable, spacious, and equipped with modern features. Nissan’s upcoming MPV is being widely referred to as the twin of the Renault Triber, as both are based on the same CMF-A modular platform.
Design and Exterior
The design of this new MPV clearly reflects Nissan’s global design language, where the company has adopted a “bold and youthful” approach. While the silhouette may feel familiar like the Renault Triber, Nissan has given it a distinct identity through a newly styled bumper, hexagonal front grille, fresh alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and roof rails.
The vehicle’s length and overall profile remain compact, making it easy to drive on city roads, while the third-row seating setup turns it into a practical family vehicle. Several testing prototypes have already been spotted on Indian roads ahead of launch, indicating that Nissan has paid special attention to local tuning and road conditions.
Engine and Performance
Nissan’s New 7-Seater Compact MPV will be powered by a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing around 72 to 76 bhp of power and 96 Nm of torque. This is the same engine currently used in the Triber, although Nissan is expected to introduce minor refinements to improve performance and ride comfort.
Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an automated manual transmission (AMT). In terms of fuel efficiency, the company may claim an average mileage of around 18 to 20 km per litre. This engine has been designed specifically for city driving and family use, offering smooth performance and low maintenance.
Interior and Features
Step inside the cabin and the MPV delivers a modern feel. It comes with a 7-seater layout, where the third-row seats are fully removable, allowing flexible expansion of cargo space when required.
Interior highlights include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver display, wireless mobile charging, keyless entry, and automatic climate control. Higher variants are expected to offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a rear-view camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Nissan has always focused on comfort and practicality in its vehicles, and this MPV is no exception. Seat quality and interior materials have been tuned specifically for Indian customer preferences, ensuring comfort even on long journeys.
Safety Features
Being a family-oriented MPV, Nissan has placed strong emphasis on safety. The vehicle is expected to offer up to six airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), hill-hold control, and electronic stability control (ESC). Rear parking sensors and a rear camera may also be standard even on lower variants.
Variants and Expected Pricing
The new Nissan MPV is expected to be priced between ₹6 lakh and ₹9–10 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market. In this price range, it will directly compete with models such as the Renault Triber, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, XL6, and Kia Carens.
A CNG option could also be offered on higher variants at the dealership level, making it even more attractive for budget-conscious and long-term users.
Position in Global Markets
At present, Nissan has not made any official announcement regarding the launch of this MPV in other countries. However, the Renault Triber is already available in markets such as Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the Philippines. Experts believe that if the Indian model proves successful, Nissan may consider exporting it to other markets after 2026.

According to reports, deliveries could begin as early as January 2026. The vehicle will be manufactured at Nissan’s plant near Chennai, where several Renault-Nissan Alliance models are already produced.
For Nissan, this is also a strategically important global launch, as India has emerged as one of the company’s fastest-growing and most promising markets.
