Pakistan Afghanistan Border Conflict: The conflict on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan continues to intensify. The armies of both countries are firing at each other and carrying out air operations, due to which the situation has become extremely tense. After several key cities were targeted from Pakistan’s side, Afghanistan has expressed a desire for talks.
According to sources, in response to Afghanistan’s airstrike, Pakistan carried out air attacks on Kabul, Taliban-influenced Kandahar and other locations. Clashes between both sides continued in the border areas as well. In this confrontation, both sides are claiming heavy losses. Reports say that 274 Taliban fighters were killed in the clashes, while more than 400 were injured.
Kabul–Islamabad confrontation
The situation between Kabul and Islamabad appears to be deteriorating rapidly. Both governments are accusing each other of starting retaliatory action, due to which the possibility of a major military confrontation in the region is deepening.
After air strikes in some areas of Kabul, Kandahar and Paktia, Islamabad announced turning the situation into an “open war.” This step has further increased tension in relations between the two neighboring countries and instability has deepened in the border regions.
Strong message from Pakistan’s defense minister
Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has taken a tough stance regarding Afghanistan and announced “open war.” In his statement, he said that Islamabad is no longer in a position to show restraint.
He alleged that the Taliban-led system is giving shelter to terrorists, which Pakistan considers a direct threat to its security. After the minister’s statement, the already ongoing tension between the two countries has deepened further.
Big decision amid tension
Amid increasing clashes in the border areas, the Pakistan government has taken a precautionary step and imposed a ban on drone operations across the country. In a notification issued by the Home Ministry, it was informed that a ban on the flights of all drones for commercial and private use has been implemented with immediate effect.
Earlier, Afghanistan’s Defense Ministry had claimed that key military installations of Pakistan were targeted through drone attacks. According to the ministry, several strategic centers inside Pakistan were attacked, which further deepened the tension between the two countries.
