Oppo is once again preparing to stir the smartphone industry with the launch of a new compact flagship under its upcoming Reno 15 series — the Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini. According to recent leak reports, the device could be introduced in global markets by the end of December 2025 or in early January 2026. Notably, the global variant is expected to be significantly different from the China-specific model, especially for markets such as India, Europe, the UAE, and Thailand.
Global variant to differ from the China model
While the China version of the Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini is expected to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chipset, reports suggest that the global model may come powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor. This change is reportedly aimed at markets where users show a stronger preference for Qualcomm chipsets. The device is positioned to compete in the mid-pro flagship segment, offering strong performance in a compact form factor.
According to fresh inputs, the company may prioritize India for the initial launch. The Indian debut is likely to take place in the last week of December or the first week of January.
Premium design with a compact display
The Reno 15 Pro Mini is expected to appeal to users looking for a compact yet premium smartphone. It is tipped to feature a 6.32-inch flat OLED/AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Ultra-slim 1.6mm bezels are expected to enhance the overall viewing experience.
The device is said to come with a glass back in a Glacier White ribbon finish, measuring just 7.99mm in thickness and weighing around 187 grams. With IP66, IP67, and IP69 ratings, the phone is expected to offer strong dust and water resistance, making it suitable for everyday use.
How effective will the 200MP camera be for mobile photography?
Oppo appears to be making a major push in mobile photography this time. As per global reports, the smartphone may feature a 200MP primary camera sensor (Samsung ISOCELL HP5), aimed at delivering highly detailed and sharp images. The setup is expected to include a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom.
Together, these cameras are expected to support AI-based image processing and enhanced night-mode performance. On the front, a 50MP selfie camera is likely to be offered, designed for video calls and social media content creation.
Tech experts believe this camera setup could directly challenge premium compact phones from brands like Samsung and Apple.
What stands out in performance and charging?
In terms of performance, the China variant is expected to run on the Dimensity 8450 chipset, while the global version may rely on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. The phone is tipped to support up to 16GB of RAM and run on Android 16-based ColorOS 16.
While Oppo has not officially revealed battery details, leak reports suggest support for 80W fast wired charging along with wireless charging. The Reno 15 series is rumored to pack batteries of up to 6,500mAh, indicating that the device should comfortably handle all-day usage.
Which markets will see the launch, including India?
Reports indicate that the Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini will be positioned in the premium mid-range category. Along with India, the device is expected to launch in markets such as the UAE, Europe, and Thailand.
Interestingly, discussions around the global variant have intensified even before the China launch, suggesting that Oppo is looking to give the Reno series a renewed international focus.
Will the compact flagship segment see renewed momentum?
In recent years, large-display smartphones have dominated the market. However, the Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini aims to challenge this trend by offering premium features in a smaller form factor. The device appears to be designed for users who want powerful performance in a smartphone that is easy to use with one hand.
