Samsung has created a fresh wave in the mobile industry, reshaping the future of foldable smartphones. The company has officially launched its first tri-fold phone, the Galaxy Z Trifold, featuring an innovative design that unfolds into three sections. When fully expanded, the device offers a 10-inch Quad Extreme Quality (QXGA+) Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, delivering a tablet-like experience that can significantly enhance entertainment as well as productivity. Sales will begin in South Korea from 12 December 2025, with previews underway at 20 select stores from 9 December. The global rollout will reach China, Taiwan, Singapore and the UAE by the end of December, while the US will receive limited stock by the first quarter of 2026. The device is expected to strengthen Samsung’s position against competitors such as Huawei, especially as the tri-fold segment is still in its early phase.

Galaxy Z Trifold Design

The design of the Galaxy Z Trifold is its biggest highlight, representing a major leap in foldable technology. In its folded state, the phone measures 159.2 x 75.0 x 12.9 mm, making it pocket-friendly, while the fully unfolded form expands to 159.2 x 214.1 x 3.9 mm (4.2 mm at the centre) with a weight of just 309 grams. The cover screen is a 6.5-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel (2520 x 1080 resolution, 422 ppi, 2600-nits peak brightness, 120Hz refresh rate), ideal for everyday use. The inner display offers 269 ppi (2160 x 1584), 1600-nits brightness and an adaptive refresh rate, delivering a cinematic viewing experience. The upgraded dual-hinge mechanism ensures gap-free folding, while IP48 water and dust resistance makes it suitable for daily usage. Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, a titanium hinge housing and an advanced Armour Aluminium frame elevate protection to a premium level. With its ultra-slim 3.9mm profile, the device redefines the concept of a mobile workspace.

Performance and Camera

On the performance front, the Galaxy Z Trifold delivers top-tier hardware. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3nm processor) paired with 16GB RAM and 512GB/1TB storage options, it is built for seamless multitasking, advanced AI features and high-end gaming.
