After a sudden fall in early trade, Nifty gradually gained momentum and closed at 24,770.20 with a gain of 71.35 points at the end of the trading session. The realty index fell by 1 per cent, while the bank index declined by 0.3 per cent. FMCG, healthcare, metal, telecom and media sectors gained 0.5-1 per cent. The BSE midcap index gained 0.4 per cent, and the smallcap index gained nearly 1 per cent.
