Weather Update: Heavy rains in Rajasthan on Sunday have created a flood-like situation in many districts. Jaipur, Alwar, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur and Dausa districts received intermittent rains throughout the day, due to which life has been disrupted. Heavy rains in Karauli and Hindaun have created a flood-like situation and waterlogging has occurred in many places.
At least 14 people have died in the state due to rain and floods. Up to 15 inches of water has fallen in Karauli and Hindaun, due to which the flood situation has become serious. Waterlogging has also occurred in Jaipur, in which five people have been swept away in the Kanota Dam. Rescue operations are underway to evacuate these people safely.
Meteorology Department: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of moderate to heavy rains in eastern Rajasthan during the next 4-5 days. Monsoon is expected to remain active in Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer and Kota divisions. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has directed the officials to strengthen the disaster management-related arrangements and appealed to the people to follow safety measures.
Seven youths died due to drowning in the Banganga River in Bharatpur. A father-son died due to the collapse of a house in Karauli. A villager was swept away in a canal in Sawai Madhopur and a college student was also swept away in Banswara. The search for those swept away in the Kanota dam in Jaipur is underway.
Many districts of Rajasthan have received heavy rains in the last 24 hours. According to the Jaipur Meteorological Center, 112 mm of rain was recorded in Pipalkhunta of Pratapgarh, 89 mm in Deeg of Bharatpur, 76 mm in Bamanwas of Sawai Madhopur, and 72 mm in Mundawar of Alwar.
There is a possibility of heavy rain in Rajasthan in the coming days, due to which relief and rescue operations are being carried out cautiously.
