Los Angeles: Aug 12, 2024 – A magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck the Highland Park area of Los Angeles on Monday afternoon. The quake struck about 6.5 miles northeast of City Hall and at a depth of 7.5 miles below the surface. The earthquake was felt from Los Angeles to San Diego, Palm Springs, and the southern San Joaquin Valley.
Despite the strong shaking, no major damage or injuries were reported. However, the quake interrupted live ESPN interviews and other activities, caused tremors in Anaheim, and affected Pasadena City Hall.
The US National Weather Service did not confirm any tsunami threat. Initially, the USGS estimated the quake at 4.6, but later revised it to 4.4. The Los Angeles Fire Department did not immediately report any damage or injuries during its assessment.
