YouTuber Jasbir Singh Held in Punjab for Espionage Linked to ISI

Rupnagar/Mohali, 04 June 2025: In a major operation, Punjab Police has arrested popular YouTuber Jasbir Singh on charges of spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Jasbir Singh, who runs the YouTube channel ‘Jaan Mahal’ with over 1.1 million subscribers, is accused of transmitting sensitive Indian information to Pakistan. Investigations have revealed that he was in direct contact with ISI agents and officials at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi. This case raises serious concerns about social media misuse and national security threats.
Deep Links with ISI and Pakistan High Commission
Director General of Punjab Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav revealed in a press conference that Jasbir Singh was in contact with ISI agent Hasan Ali alias Jatt Randhawa. He was also regularly in touch with Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra and former Pakistan High Commission official Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish. It was discovered that Danish had invited Jasbir to a Pakistan National Day event held in Delhi, where he met Pakistani military officials and ISI-linked bloggers. This meeting was allegedly part of a spy network, through which he collected classified Indian information and transmitted it to ISI.
Three Visits to Pakistan, Suspicious Contacts Recovered
Investigations revealed that Jasbir Singh travelled to Pakistan three times – in 2020, 2021, and 2024 – and met ISI officials and other suspicious individuals during these visits. His electronic devices contained numerous Pakistani contact numbers, several of which are linked to ISI operatives. Forensic analysis of these numbers is underway, and police believe that it could lead to the exposure of deeper secrets within the espionage network. Over 150 Pakistani contact numbers were found on Jasbir’s devices, pointing towards a well-organised and extensive network.
Suspicious Connection with Jyoti Malhotra
Jasbir Singh’s name has also been linked with arrested YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra from Haryana, who runs the ‘Travel With Jo’ YouTube channel. According to police sources, both had connections with ISI-backed terror network handler Shakir alias Jatt Randhawa. Jasbir and Jyoti travelled to Pakistan together and allegedly engaged in suspicious activities. They reportedly attempted to delete digital content created during the trip to eliminate evidence related to espionage, marking a severe case of social media misuse.
Failed Attempt to Destroy Evidence
Following Jyoti Malhotra’s arrest, Jasbir Singh attempted to delete chats, videos, and other digital content from his phone and social media accounts. However, Punjab Police’s Counter-Intelligence Wing and the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Mohali, tracked and arrested him in time. Forensic analysis of his devices is ongoing to identify other members and activities of the spy network.
Heightened Vigilance After Operation Sindoor
Following the Indian Air Force’s ‘Operation Sindoor’, which targeted terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and PoK, security agencies across Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi-NCR have been on high alert. During this period, Punjab Police and Tarn Taran Police jointly arrested another spy, Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan, who was linked to ISI and Khalistani terrorist Gopal Singh Chauhan. Gagandeep had reportedly sent sensitive Indian Army-related information to ISI during Operation Sindoor.
7 Spies Arrested in 11 Days
Since Operation Sindoor, security agencies have arrested seven suspected spies within just 11 days, including Jasbir Singh, Jyoti Malhotra, and Gagandeep Singh. These arrests expose the active espionage network of ISI within India. Agencies have stated that ISI is now targeting YouTubers and influencers via social media misuse, using their popularity to gather sensitive information.
Thorough Investigation by SSOC
An official case has been registered against Jasbir Singh under the Official Secrets Act. SSOC, Mohali, is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. Authorities believe that ongoing interrogation and forensic analysis will lead to the identification of other network members and their activities. Investigating Jasbir’s bank accounts and digital transactions may reveal financial links to ISI.
Serious Concerns Over Social Media Misuse
Jasbir Singh’s arrest has sparked serious concerns about social media misuse. Users are questioning whether some influencers are jeopardising national security under the guise of popularity. The case highlights how ISI and the Pakistan High Commission are allegedly using social media for anti-India operations. Security agencies are now taking strict steps to prevent the exploitation of digital platforms.
