A significant legal dispute has emerged between IT majors Infosys and Cognizant. Cognizant, a leading US-based software company, has filed a lawsuit against Infosys alleging that Infosys stole confidential information from its healthcare division, Trizetto. Cognizant claims that Infosys misused Trizetto’s software and stole data related to it, thereby violating its trade secrets.
Cognizant says that Infosys hacked its proprietary software and documents by pretending to have an agreement with Trizetto. The alleged breach was intended to assist Infosys in working with clients who use Trizetto’s services. Cognizant alleges that Infosys used Trizetto’s software to create a “Test Case for Facets” and turned its data into its product.
Cognizant’s complaint also states that Infosys developed special software to steal data from QNXT, which contained Trizetto’s confidential information. Trizetto is now seeking a jury trial and trying to prevent Infosys from using its trade secrets. Along with this, Cognizant has also sought compensation to cover the financial losses.
Amid this controversy, Infosys has rejected all these allegations and said that they are fully prepared to clarify their position in court. Infosys says that all the claims are baseless and they are committed to following the legal process.
This week, Cognizant has appointed Rajesh Warrior as its new global operations head and India president. Rajesh Warrior, who previously worked at Infosys, recently left the position to lead NASSCOM. Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S, who previously had an association with Infosys, served there in various leadership roles from January 2016 to October 2022.
The outcome of this legal dispute could impact the future of both companies in the IT sector, and the focus needs to be on how the case progresses and what its business impact will be.
