The US, Egypt and Qatar have tried for several months to reach a ceasefire in Gaza, but the talks have repeatedly hit deadlocks. Blinken said he is expected to travel to Egypt on Tuesday to try to move the settlement process forward.
Meanwhile, Hamas has not clarified its position on the proposal and said negotiations have not yet begun. This raises the question of whether Israel’s demands have been met, particularly Israel’s demand for control over two strategic corridors inside Gaza.
