Nowadays, the smartphone has become an integral part of our life. It is not only useful for calling and social media but also works to keep banking, entertainment and personal data safe. In such a situation, if your smartphone is stolen, the loss caused by it can be very serious. Your personal data, photos, videos etc. are at risk of falling into the hands of hackers. However, through some smart settings, you can keep your phone safe in case of theft.
Turn on these two settings immediately
If your phone is Android 13 or above, you can turn on the following two settings so that the phone can be tracked and prevented from being used in case of theft.
1-Required Password to Power Off
Through this setting, a password will be required to turn off your phone. The advantage of this is that thieves will not be able to turn off your phone, making it easier to trace the phone.
Ways to turn on settings
- Go to your phone’s settings.
- Go to the Security and Privacy option.
- Tap on More Security and Privacy.
- Click on the Required Password to Power Off option and turn the toggle on.
This will require a password to turn off your phone, and without the password, it will not be possible to switch off the phone.
2-Find My Device
This feature is very important for tracking your phone. By keeping it on, you can track your phone’s location in real-time.
How to turn on the settings
- Go to the phone’s settings and tap on Security and Privacy.
- Tap on the Device Finders option.
- Go to Find your offline devices.
- Select the With Network in all areas option.
This will make it easier to track your phone. If your phone gets stolen, you can track its location and also get the phone blocked by visiting the government’s CEIR website (CEIR).
By turning on both of these settings at once, you can increase the security of your smartphone and minimize potential losses in case of theft.
